Our shadows and darkness carry the nourishment we need to evolve to the next level of who we want to be in this world. Each shadow, each trauma carries vital information that can lead us to the next level of personal mastery. So often we avoid talking about or acknowledging our shadow because of the intense feelings, thoughts, and emotions that come with “going through it”.

I believe that if we can look a bit closer at the discomfort of coming face to face with our shadow, we will find everything that we are searching for. If we can release the resistance to it, the running from it, we will find valuable information in the experience that will set us free. We must be willing to look deeper than the surface level of the trauma or shadow to find the Truth within it. Each wound is like a geode. It requires a little work but once you open it up you will discover dazzling light and beauty. All we need is breath, openness, and loving attention to transform the shadow and reclaim the power that it feeds on.

Most of us use smartphones on a daily basis. Your shadows and beliefs are similar to the apps that are running in the background taking power. You may not be aware that they are running, but you can see that your battery drains quickly and sometimes the other applications run slower. Once we become aware of this we can figure out what we want to do. Maybe there was unfinished business that we forgot about, so we finish it and close the app. Maybe the app is not needed anymore so we simply close it down. Do you have unresolved emotional energy that can be released? Do you have beliefs about yourself or others that drain your energy and cause contraction? Is there unfinished business that your inner being is asking to be completed? Self-inquiry will open gates of wisdom and lead you on your path of self-realization and awakening.

One of the simplest ways to transmute and release negativity is through meditation. It is CRUCIAL that each person develop a daily meditation and ritualized practice that suits them. During this practice, one needs to be seated upright so that the spine becomes an antenna for energy. I suggest 10 minutes minimum very first thing in the morning. I suggest to keep it simple. As you breathe, feel the sensation of breath entering and exiting the body. Use your inner awareness to scan your body for places that can be relaxed energetically. Invite Light into your whole being and charge yourself until you feel radiant and lighthearted.

In my Embodied Light courses, we learn a variety of simple techniques to soothe and balance energy and emotions. Take some time every week (every day if you can) to be in Nature. As you walk through the wilderness, the Earth will begin to work with your emotions and energy to bring you back into balance. Spend time next to water and offer your prayers to the water. The water carries wisdom and intention. Say hello to the trees, plants, and animals. When we nourish our relationship with Nature, we nourish our relationship with our true self.
Detoxify Your Life
We are bombarded by toxins in the modern world. Harsh chemicals, pollution, and cheap food bring us down. Find ways to reduce the toxic load on your body. Eat as clean and as light as possible. What we take into our body becomes our body. Treat your body as the temple of wisdom that it is.
Essential Oils and Aromatherapy
Learn how to use essential oils to support a positive and joyful mood. Each essential oil has uncountable health benefits and uses. Be sure that you are using a high quality, pure essential oil to avoid agitation from chemicals. I use Doterra as my trusted brand. I have certain oils that I use every day to support my body's ability to heal itself. Certain oils I use internally to detoxify or support my bodies systems. Eliminate or reduce drinks that have a lot of sugar and chemicals. Have a headache? Drink a glass of pure water. Had an emotional day? Drink a glass of water. Water is Life. Drink more water.
Let Go of Stressful Relationships
Realize that every person is in your life for a reason. If you find yourself around negative people or in negative environments, go deep into your being to discover why you are attracting these circumstances. Maybe it has to do with your self-worth. Maybe it has to do with a dependency that you have imagined or created. Maybe it is guilt. Ask your Higher Self/God/Source what you can learn to move into better feeling relationships. If you do not do this work, you will keep attracting the same scenarios and types of people until you get it! Nothing is happening to you (blame), everything is happening FOR YOU (opportunity).

Find a teacher and mentor to guide you on your path of self-discovery and healing. Choose guides and mentors who hold the energy that you desire. Choose teachers who are uplifting and positive. A good teacher always points a student inward to their own intelligence and never claims to have the only way. If you are part of a group that says they have the only way to heaven, realize this is a fear-based belief that is not inline with the Love flows to you always. God/Goddess/All-That-Is welcomes all its parts back home.
