Ron Meir Amit was born in Israel and began his professional career in 2003 when he joined the Batsheva Ensemble. While in Batsheva, Ron performed works by Ohad Naharin, Sharon Eyal, Arkady Zaides, Daniel Landau,. Ron also was a part of Matanicola, a Berlin based collaborative project. He received the America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship from 2003-2004 and from 2004-2006 he served as an Outstanding Dancer in the IDF.
Ron’s choreographic work has been performed in the US, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Denmark, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, and Israel. He collaborated with Mor Shani on a duet titled Lu Carmela for the Shades of Dance Festival in Israel. The duet won several awards including Best Choreography in the SoloDuo international dance competition in Hungary and ACT Festival in Spain. Lu Carmela was also nominated for the Swan award for Best Production at National Holland Awards in 2010.
Ron was one of the first certified teachers to bring Gaga to the US and has been teaching Gaga around the world for several years. He helped start the Gaga Movement Language program at Peridance Capezio Center in NYC and was a guest teacher at the Juilliard School in 2010.
Ron was a co-founded a non-profit called Zuzu in Israel that used dance as a healing experience for people with disabilities. Ron is a co-founder of Transformotion with his partner Michael. Together they facilitate transformational dance workshops and classes for all people.
